Grant Hopewell

Vice President

I hold a PPL and have been flying for over 40 years. I enjoy Flying NZ competitions and I have represented New Zealand in the Flying NZ Wings Team five times. While passionate about sport and recreational flying, I believe Flying NZ has a much wider role to play in supporting it's clubs and keeping Flying NZ's profile high in the avaition industry and I intend to use my considerable management skills to further develop Flying NZ in these areas.

Tony Page

Past President

You will have seen me around Flying NZ for a number of years as Lakes regional representative. More recently I was President. I am passionate about competition flying and chair the competition advisory group. On completion of my PPL, I was encouraged to take up competition flying by my club. This has developed into a long term passion to promote sport aviation to others. I will still remain on the Executive for 12 monts as Past President.

Lisa Macdonald

Executive Secretary

I have been in aviation for most of my working life, both in management and as a pilot. I hold an ATPL with over 4000 hours of total flying time, flying in New Zealand and overseas. I am rated in most aircraft found in our aero clubs as well as commercial twins including the Beech 1900 and Metroliners. I also hold a C Cat instructor rating. I am enjoying being more involved in and fostering Sport and Recreational flying, especially to our younger members.

Cameron Sutherland

Northwen Region Representative

Aviation has long been a passion of mine. I became involved in the aero club scene seven years ago when my eldest son was accepted into the Young Eagles Programme. My family and I have really enjoyed being actively involved over the years as our son progressed through his flight training.
I have experienced both Regional and National Competitions since 2015 and I have been fortunate to make some contacts within both the larger clubs in the region and the smaller rural clubs.

Trish Stephens

Central Region Representative

A long time member of the Tauranga Aero club having served on the committee in many roles.
I have been an eager participant in flying competitions, particularly formation and aerobatics, both here and in Australia and have been a winning Wings team member on several occasions. I was awarded a FAI Air Sports medal in 2017 in recognition of my contribution to air sports in New Zealand.
I am very happy to share my enthusium and knowlege with clubs in the region.

Leroy Johnston

Cook Strait Region Representative

I caught the aviation bug back in 2014 with the Wanganui Aero Club, where I have remained active to this day, since completing my PPL with Instructor Rating. I also serve as the Vice President within the club’s executive committee. I am very passionate about “grass roots” and “aero club” flying. Its exciting to represent so many long-standing clubs within the Cook Strait region. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch and let me know how or what Flying NZ can do for you or your club.

Peter King

Alpine Region Representative

I joined Canterbury Aero Club in November 1998 and finally passed my PPL in January 2001. I’ve enjoyed taking Young Eagles flying. I’ve competed in local, regional and national competitions - with varying success and plenty laughs.
I have served on the Canterbury Aero Club's Executive for nine years and still do so on a couple of the clubs's sub-committees. I look forward to bringing my skills and experience to the benefit of Flying NZ Clubs and their members.

Aaron Pearce

Instructor Council Chairperson

I have been South Canterbury's Chief Instructor and Manager since January 2016 and before becoming Chairperson, a member of the Flying New Zealand Instructor Council. I enjoy nothing more than seeing students, young and old, progress and develop as safe capable pilots.
I just can’t get enough of sharing the magic of aviation, the experience and reward that it gives to all pilots and students. I am looking forward to further stimulating and growing activity in Sport and Recreational Flying in New Zealand.
