INTRODUCING OUR YOUTH TO AVIATION OPPORTUNITIES
ABOUT YOUNG EAGLES

As a Young Eagle member you will get the opportunity to experience the breadth of the aviation industry for yourself. You will have the opportunity to do many things, from actually flying in an aircraft and experiencing how it works and looking down on the world below, to visiting and learning about Air Traffic Control, to talking to airline pilots and more. Does this sound exciting to you? Would you like to enjoy this wonderful experience? You can, because this is an invitation to you to take to the skies and become a member of the Flying NZ Young Eagles. Contact your local Aero Club and they will welcome you into their programme.

You will be given a Young Eagles registration form, please make sure that you fill it in correctly, and don’t forget to get your parents/guardians to sign the permission form. You must be between the ages of 12 and 18, however, some clubs have tighter restrictions than that, so please check with your local club. Return the form to your Aero Club. They will introduce you to their coordinator and pilots involved in their program. Your pilot has been chosen because they are a very safe and competent pilot and have been approved by your club to fly for Young Eagles.

Senior Young Eagles can enter for Scholarships and attend events that are run by Flying NZ for its Young Eagle members.

POLICE CHECK FOR YOUNG EAGLES LEADERS

It is Flying NZ policy that all Young Eagles leaders are Police-checked for working with children and young people at least every 3 years. Flying NZ is an approved agency with NZ Police to conduct these checks, so please initiate all checks via Flying NZ (we are unable to just take checks undertaken by other agencies or for other purposes).

You can obtain the latest NZ Police form from their website (https://www.police.govt.nz/advice-services/businesses-and-organisations/nz-police-vetting-service/forms-and-guides). All requests must come via your Young Eagles Coordinator, CFI or similar person, and must be filled out appropriately, including identity checks! In most cases, only the New Zealand check is required. Flying NZ covers the cost of Police checks.

For any assistance, email the Executive Secretary at execsec@flyingnz.co.nz.
