Wildcard Competition Entries
Flying NZ is proud to present the 2025 National Competitions, this year being hosted by Hawkes Bay & East Coast Aero Club.
From this year, there is a new process for wildcard competition applications. This is to make the process fairer to those who wish to enter, and to make the wildcard events easier to manage on the day.
Please read the conditions for wildcard competition applications, then use the form to apply.
Conditions for wildcard competition applications are.
Application Fee and Close-off Date

Pilot Eligibility and Selection Preference
- Applicants must be a member of a Flying NZ Club affiliated member who competed at the previous Regional Rally, in any competition event.
- Note that winners at the Regional Rallies in the G M Spence Forced Landing and Sir Francis Boys Precision Circuit competitions should not apply for the same event, as they are already eligible to compete in the National Championships.
- Applicants who have competed in the same event at the Rally will have first preference.
- Applicants must be eligible to compete, as per the standard competition rules.
- The number of entries for each Wildcard event is to be restricted to sixteen (16), plus any Australian pilots who are in the Australian Wings Team that is competing in New Zealand that year.
- Should the total number of entries in any competition exceed the number that can be accommodated in the annual Wildcard competitions, Flying NZ will allocate places by ballot.
- Should the total number of entries in any competition be less that what can be accomodated in the annual Wildcard competitions, Flying NZ may consider (non conforming) applications, as long as each club who has conforming entries has at least one member selected.
Results
- The winner of the G M Spence Wildcard Forced Landing event is eligible to compete in the G M Spence Trophy event at the same National Championships.
- The winner of the Sir Francis Boys Wildcard Precision Circuit event is eligible to compete in the Sir Francis Boys Cup event at the same National Championships.
